Best free Software for your HV20
I've tried to compile a list of the best free software that you can use to help you enjoy your new Canon HV20. Unless otherwise noted all the software below is free and ready for you to download.
HDVSplit - utility for capturing HDV stream from your camcorder with scene splitting by timestamp and dropped-frames indicator. This is by far the easiest program you can use to download video clips directly from your HV20 Hi definition camcorder.
MPEG Streamclip is a converter for QuickTime files, MPEG-1/2/4 files and transport streams (.ts and .m2t). It provides high-quality conversion of movies and MPEGs into several useful formats. This is the program that I sometimes use to convert my .m2t files into MPG2 files. It's easy and fast!
VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. This software is also free and works great. It plays almost anything! Don't forget to change the interlace settings when watching .m2t files.
